Winter is coming, and one of Chicago’s most legendary neighborhoods is embracing it with the ushering in of a brand new winter festival unlike any other. Winterfest features the best in local shopping and dining for the holidays by interconnecting dozens of West Town businesses.
WINTERFEST EVENT HEADQUARTERS: at Eurofurniture 2145 W. Grand Ave. 11:00am-6:30pm Saturday and Sunday December 6th & 7th with Jolly Trolley registration, West Town Winterfest maps and programs, plus a special holiday bar with warm mulled wine, cold beer and bubbly. Get in the spirit with a unique holiday pop-up shop featuring vintage ornaments and trees, old and new holiday decor by Creative Visionary Inc., plus catch ChiMe students string ensemble performance of holiday classics at 1:45pm on Saturday 12/6.
FOOD TRUCKS: Babycakes Gourmet food truck with pancakes, coffee and hot chocolate will be out front of Winterfest Headquarters / Eurofurniture on Saturday 12/6 11:30am-4:00pm , and Beavers Coffee & Donuts food truck will be there with delicious fresh donuts and coffee on Sunday 12/7 11:30am-4:00pm.
JOLLY TROLLEY TOURS: There will be 6 Jolly Trolleys departing from Eurofurniture 2145 W. Grand Avenue at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm each day of West Town Winterfest. Each trolley will have a guide and will travel one of these six unique routes. The cozy chauffeured tour will take approximately 2 hours, passengers stay on their trolleys and all trolleys will return to Eurofurniture after stopping at each location on the route for 15-20 minutes. The restaurant / bar on each route will offer complimentary samples and sips!
Trolley tickets are $10. All Jolly Trolley riders (over 21) will be offered a complimentary glass of bubbly upon arrival at Headquarters PLUS receive a $20 Shop West Town Gift Certificate to spend back at any Winterfest participating business in January and February 2015! Spend $10, Get $20! Seating on the trolleys is limited, so please be sure to reserve your ticket(s) in advance. SANTA SPRINT: an all-new Family Fun Run on Division Street Saturday December 6th at 10am. All runners receive a free Santa hat! Prices vary by age. Join us for the first annual Santa Sprint! The West Town Chamber is partnering with LaSalle II Magnet Elementary School to host a Family Fun Run, the kick off event to West Town Winterfest. Runners have the choice of jogging along either a 1-mile route or a 5k route through West Town, sporting their FREE SANTA HATS, which will be distributed at the start line. Registration will be located East side of the LaSalle II school building (Division and Honore). Both races will begin and end here. After the race, “Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?” Lasalle II organizers will be conducting a snowman decoration fundraiser from 10:30 am until 2:00 pm. Tickets to participate in the craft time event will be available on site. For $75, local businesses and families alike can create a customized unique snowman. Supplies are limited.
