CTA Holiday Train Spreads Cheer to Residents

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) will delight commuters, young and old, for the eighteenth year in a row, with the annual decorated Holiday Train. If you’ve recently moved to your Chicago home, you won’t want to miss this holiday spectacle!

Bring your family for a ride on this magical six-car train. When pulling into each station, Santa and his reindeer can be seen in an open air flatcar. Once the train starts moving, Santa and his elves visit with passengers as they walk through the train cars and pass out candy canes.

Train interiors are sparkling with thousands of multi-colored lights, red bows, garland, and red and green overhead lighting. The hand poles are even wrapped to look like candy canes! The Holiday Train will travel all CTA rail lines throughout December and generally operates from about 1 pm to 9 pm on weekends and 3 pm to 7 pm on select weekdays. Normal fares apply and Santa’s schedule can be found here.
